BREAKING NEWS - DISNEY OPEN 24 HOURS

The Magic Kingdom will pull another all-nighter next month, Disney World officials announced late Thursday.

The theme park will be open for business from 6 a.m. on May 24 through 6 a.m on May 25. It's the second time Magic Kingdom was gone to a round-the-clock schedule. The first was Feb. 29, 2012.
Special events during the period will be "Monsters University" characters Mike and Sulley as the grand marshals of the afternoon parade, special merchandise and late-night appearances of Disney characters in their pajamas. Disney's West Coast parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, will also stay open 24 hours on those dates.

The marathon shift is part of a new promotional campaign called Disney's Monstrous Summer. The announcement was by one-eyed "Monsters University" character Mike Wazowski, who was beamed onto Epcot's iconic Spaceship Earth. The round, green one topped out at 180 feet in the unique format.
"Monsters University," which debuts June 21, already has a monorail train with its characters applied to its exterior at Walt Disney World.

Start Planning Now for Your 2013 Thanksgiving Vacation

Are you ready to start planning your family’s next getaway for Thanksgiving 2013? Traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday season is a popular time to getaway, yet many find it hard to choose where to go during Turkey season. It’s time to start exploring the perfect travel destinations so that your family can book now in order to get the best deals and most options.
Some of the top places to travel to around Thanksgiving may not surprise many, like traveling to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. New York City is a place that truly gains a magical spirit around this time of the year, so we suggest a bit of sight-seeing while in NYC. But if the cold weather is not your forte, then let’s think of somewhere a bit more tropical and warmer, like the Caribbean. When is the Caribbean not a popular place to travel to? Escape the cold fall months and get a taste of true paradise on the relaxing white sand beaches.
If you would sooner stick to the traditional aspect of the holiday, travel to Plymouth, Massachusetts (where historians believe to be the location of the first Thanksgiving). There are plenty of activities for your family to engage in, which is perfect for an educational/fun atmosphere for the holiday.

But if you would rather combine the Thanksgiving holiday season with the warmth of the beach, perhaps your family would enjoy traveling to St. Augustine, Florida, a place where some historians argue to be the location of the first actual Thanksgiving celebration in 1565. Whatever the case may be, your family can enjoy a piece of tradition, mixed with endless beaches and gorgeous Florida sun.
Another exciting excursion to take on with your family during Thanksgiving is to visit the beautiful Arizona landscapes. Why not travel out west to explore the reservations of our nation’s first inhabitants, the Native American Indians? Discover the beauty of Arizona and get a taste of Native American culture.
Wherever your family decides to travel, remember that if you are planning to travel around this Thanksgiving, now is the time to start booking.

Walt Disney World Tips & Tricks: A Park-By-Park Guide

The Magic Kingdom

1. Try to come toward the end of the week, because most families hit the Magic Kingdom early in their Disney visit.
2. Ride a star attraction while a parade is going on if you're willing to miss it; lines ease considerably. (But be careful not to get stuck on the wrong side of the parade route when it starts, or you may never get across.)
3. At Town Square, near the entrance, pick up a Guide Map and the Times Guide, which lists show times, character greeting times, and any special hours for attractions and restaurants.
4. Book character meals early. Main Street, U.S.A.'s Crystal Palace Buffet has breakfast with Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, and Piglet 8–10:30 AM. Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table in Cinderella Castle is extremely popular—so much so that you should reserve your spot six months out. At an afternoon Wonderland Tea Party in the Grand Floridian Resort, you interact with Alice and help bake (and eat) cupcakes.

Epcot

5. Epcot is so vast and varied that you really need two days to explore everything. If you have just one day, be highly selective.
6. It's best to go early in the week, when others are at Magic Kingdom.
7. If your family loves festivals, go to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival (late March–early June) or the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival (late September–mid-November).

Top Reasons To Travel

Our existence is such an incredible mystery, one of the things that baffles me the most, is that some how many of us fail to acknowledge what a miracle this cosmic play really is. You would think that every moment were alive, would be enough to keep us in a state of constant amazement. One of the reasons that we end up taking life for granted, is that we become insensitive to life. Because we live through memory, through our conditioning’s, we take life, which is dynamic in nature and turn it into something static.
The moment you start looking, you begin to see what a wonderful planet we live on. Our home is a place of such amazing diversity. One of my favorite ways to experience and marvel at our planets creations, is through travel. Traveling can really awaken inner spirit.
1. Self Discovery/Personal Growth: Without a doubt the number one reason to travel and live abroad is because of the opportunity it gives to grow as a human being. Through travel you first become aware of the spiritual dimension.
2.Language: Being able to communicate with people from other cultures in their native tongue is such a rewarding experience. Obviously if you want to learn a language, the best way is to move there. Speaking only one language is terribly limiting, Everyone to at least pick up one other language. It really can open up a whole new world. Yes, it can be very difficult learning a new language, but with the right attitude and plan it can be done.
3. Street Food: Food is a huge part of any culture and if you want to try a country’s local food, street food is where it’s at.  When eating street food be ready with the fact that eventually you will need to make an emergency trip to the bathroom. It’s always a good idea to carry some antacid tablets.
4. Beautiful Views: A beautiful view has the power to stop the movement of your mind, in that moment you are timeless, you sense how magnificent this planet is. Nothing beats a beautiful view and having someone special to enjoy it with.
5. Supermarkets: A favorite things Is to see what a country’s people eats and buys. You can learn a lot about a country by just roaming it’s supermarkets. Trying a country’s local candies and snacks is adventurous. Just like Korean squid jerky. Man, they really love squid here.
6. Local Music: Music is the universal language, a good tune can make anyone move. Try going into local bars around town to check out the live bands playing. It’s also a great way to meet new people.
7. Culture: Observe the differences with how people live their day to day lives. Be fascinated by the the traditions, whether they are interesting, absurd, or annoying. There is much to be learned by observing a country’s traditions. Each country has it’s own set of positives and negatives and experience them all.
8. People: Connect with interesting people. In traveling, many times you will have an adventurous attitude and usually will be more outgoing. When traveling don’t be afraid of connecting with people who appear to be different than you. Just remember, you can relate to anyone, because after all, you are a human being.
Travel is a way of life, a way of being, and a way of experiencing. Freedom from the known is the mantra of my blog and traveling is one of the easiest way’s to step into the land of the unknown. These were just a few of my reasons for traveling, what are yours?

Disney World First Timer Tips

Mission Mickey: Disney World First Timer Tips

Disney World, Magic Kingdom, Mickey Mouse

Edited to add: Disney World is offering the Dining Plan deal again starting in August 2012! I definitely recommend this as a great deal for families! Book now through May 18.
It’s hard for me to believe that I’ve never been to the Magic Kingdom. I saw a bit of Disney magic last February during a TravelingMom.com writer’s retreat (mostly Epcot) and when I came home I was all the more determined to save for a family vacation to Disney World before Miss C turned 10 this summer. Will she be too cool or too grown up for the magic of Disney once she hits 10? I doubt it, but there’s just something about now with the girls being 6 and 9 that seems like the perfect time. We’re headed to Disney World next month and I am just as excited as the girls (just ask my husband!)
By December I had $2,000 saved and with that budget in mind for a package for our family of four that included hotel accommodations, food, and theme park tickets (but not airfare), I set out to book a vacation.
Planning your first Disney vacation can be overwhelming and expensive but it doesn’t have to be. Before you head to Disney World you need to decide three things as they will dictate much of your vacation experience:

Vacation Testimonials from Florida Travelers

Family Vacation
The Emerald Coast is like visiting a paradise. We absolutely loved the beach and people. We enjoyed the beautiful, white sand beaches. The boogie boarding was awesome. Thanks for a wonderful time. We all loved it! (Big plus!!) The resorts are beautiful and well equipped and welcoming. Coming back after a day of adventure was like coming home. Comfy beds and clean smelling sheets. (Heaven) Hate to Leave, Will be back!!!

We will be back for sure next year. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our honeymoon. Wish we got to use the tub but was just too busy. Thanks for everything!
